A not for profit organization, Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) is the apex fashion body of India that is represented by over 400 members. FDCI is committed towards taking Indian fashion global by promoting the ‘Business of Fashion’.
FDCI’s calendar of events includes the annual prêt week for women and menswear for Autumn-Winter and Spring-Summer –the India Fashion Week and the yearly luxurious offering, the India Couture Week. Over the years, it has embarked on various path-breaking initiatives to cultivate and nurture designers and their business.
A pan India organisation, FDCI weaves designers from various states, cities and towns of India into one cohesive body. Representing both established and emerging designers, it plays an important role in guiding the industry towards its goal of sustainable growth.
In the process of taking Indian Fashion to a global platform, FDCI advices and assists fashion designers, retailers, models, make-up artist, hair stylists, choreographers and manufacturers in raising professional standards and improving business practices while creating worldwide opportunities. It works at creating mutually beneficial tie-ups with similar councils internationally.
FDCI is the fulcrum for activities supporting development and growth of indigenous Indian textile and handloom. As a national body for the fashion industry, FDCI has been working closely with various Ministries and bodies of Government of India – Commerce and Industry, Textiles, Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion, and Gujarat State Khadi and Village Industries Board to push forward the agenda of promoting Indian fashion.
